A Day in Arusha, A Night at the Lodge

A walking safari, game drive and picnic in Arusha National Park, followed by a peaceful night at Arusha Safari Lodge before your flight home.

The trip

A Day in the Park, A Night at the Lodge

What you'll do

This is our one day safari with a relaxed overnight stay at the end. You spend a full day in Arusha National Park, just two hours from Moshi, with a walking safari, picnic lunch and afternoon game drive. Rather than racing to the airport that evening, you finish the day at Arusha Safari Lodge, a calm retreat with mountain views, a swimming pool and gardens that come alive at dusk.

The next morning is yours to slow down. There is breakfast on the terrace, and if there is time we can arrange a giraffe, zebra and eland feeding experience right at the lodge, which is a lovely way to end the trip. From there it is a short transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight. This option works well for travellers who want a softer landing after a Kilimanjaro climb or a longer stay in Tanzania.

Day by day

Two Days, Plenty of Wildlife

A full safari day in Arusha National Park, then a peaceful night at Arusha Safari Lodge.

Day 1

Arusha National Park

After breakfast in Moshi, we drive west to Arusha National Park, a short and scenic two hour journey. The morning begins with a guided walking safari alongside local rangers, a rare way to experience the Tanzanian bush. You walk among giraffes, zebras and buffalo, with chances to see colobus monkeys swinging through the trees and elephants moving along the forest edge. The Momella Lakes attract huge numbers of flamingos and other birdlife, and on clear days you can see Kilimanjaro itself rising in the distance. We pause for a picnic lunch at a beautiful spot in the park, then continue the afternoon by vehicle, slowly working back toward the gate as the light softens. From there it is a short drive to Arusha Safari Lodge, where you can settle in, swim and enjoy dinner with views over Mount Meru.

A Slow Morning, Then Kilimanjaro Airport

Wake to the sounds of the gardens and take your time over breakfast. If schedules allow, we can arrange a special animal feeding experience at the lodge, where you can meet the resident giraffe, zebra and eland up close. It is a memorable, unhurried way to round off the trip. When you are ready, we transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport in time for your flight home.

Our safari in Tanzania with Legend Expeditions was absolutely incredible - an experience of a lifetime! The scenery was beyond breathtaking, and everything about the trip was seamless, thanks to Jack, the owner of Legend Expeditions and our safari guide, Magoma 🦁

Jack kept in constant contact with me prior to me leaving the UK, whilst I climbed Kili and on safari, this level of communication was beyond my expectation! and we have kept in touch afterwards because I will certainly be going on another adventure with them! If I could give more than a 5 star review I would for Legend Expeditions!

I would whole heartedly recommend adding the safari package on to your trip. The knowledge of the Legend team on locating and explaining about the animals is second to none. The accommodation and catering were also excellent.
