Tanzania Day Safari

A Day in Arusha National Park

A full day in Arusha National Park, with a walking safari, game drive and picnic lunch, finishing with a direct transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

The trip

A Single Day in the Wild

What you'll do

Our one day safari is built for travellers who want a real taste of Tanzania before flying home. The day takes you from Moshi to Arusha National Park, one of the most accessible reserves in the country and home to a wonderful mix of wildlife. You walk on foot with park rangers, drive across open plains and stop for a picnic surrounded by the sounds of the bush.

There is no overnight stay on this version of the trip. We finish the afternoon with a transfer straight to Kilimanjaro International Airport, ready for your evening flight. For this to work well, we recommend booking a departure from 7pm onwards so you can enjoy the full day in the park without rushing. If you are stepping off the mountain after a Kilimanjaro climb, this is a calm, scenic way to round off your time in Tanzania.

Day 1

Arusha National Park to Kilimanjaro Airport

After breakfast at your hotel in Moshi, we collect you for the short drive to Arusha National Park, around two hours away. The morning starts on foot with a guided walking safari alongside local rangers, a rare way to experience the Tanzanian bush at ground level. As you walk through forest and grassland, look out for giraffes, zebras, buffalo and the black and white colobus monkeys that move through the canopy above. Birdlife is everywhere, especially the flamingos drawn to the Momella Lakes. On clear mornings the silhouette of Kilimanjaro appears in the distance, while Mount Meru watches over the park itself. We pause for a picnic lunch at a quiet, scenic spot, then continue the afternoon by vehicle on a game drive back through the park. Once we leave the gate, we head directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight. We recommend booking a departure from 7pm onwards so the day flows without pressure.

Our safari in Tanzania with Legend Expeditions was absolutely incredible - an experience of a lifetime! The scenery was beyond breathtaking, and everything about the trip was seamless, thanks to Jack, the owner of Legend Expeditions and our safari guide, Magoma 🦁

Jack kept in constant contact with me prior to me leaving the UK, whilst I climbed Kili and on safari, this level of communication was beyond my expectation! and we have kept in touch afterwards because I will certainly be going on another adventure with them! If I could give more than a 5 star review I would for Legend Expeditions!

I would whole heartedly recommend adding the safari package on to your trip. The knowledge of the Legend team on locating and explaining about the animals is second to none. The accommodation and catering were also excellent.
